(a) "happy birthday"

She wanted for me to greet you a "Happy Birthday" for her. Hi! Do I need the article 'a' in my sentence? Also, is 'for' optional here? Thanks very much.

If you must use that sentence, then you need the article "a." If you want to sound like a native speaker, you'll want to say: She wanted me to wish you a happy birthday (for her).

I'd omit the for.

Thank you Copy. Also, do you advise against the use of 'for' here?
