Correct form is “As evidenced by” or “as evident by”?

Group theory is one of my favourite areas in mathematics, as evidenced by the fact that I chose to do two group theory modules in my undergraduate course. Correct form is “As evidenced by” or “as evident by”?

'As evident by' kinda feels like beingthe more correct option here (even though is malapropism), but I can't shake the feeling that there's a better way to phrase this. Simply put, evidenced is formed from a verb, so that's fine as is.
